Code Enforcement

In the City of High Springs, Code Enforcement falls under the purview of the Planning Department, reporting to the City Manager. The purpose of the Code Enforcement Department is to promote, protect and improve the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the City of High Springs.

Mission: Empowering our citizens to enhance our community through education, outreach, and voluntary compliance with every interaction.

The primary functions of the Code Enforcement Department are to educate the public about our codes, ordinances, and state statutes. We promote voluntary compliance to establish a partnership with our citizens, community groups, and other agencies. The preservation and the improvement of housing and property standards are our primary concern and one that results in a positive effect on property value and neighborhood pride.

The Code Enforcement Department works with citizens to ensure public health and quality of life are not compromised by violations of City Ordinances. Ordinances are designed to protect the health and safety of all residents. Action on a specific violation may be initiated either by a complaint to the Code Enforcement Department or by observation of the violation by a Code Enforcement Officer.
