Vice Mayor Jones was born in DeLand, FL and moved to Gainesville in 1959. She went to JJ Finley, Westwood Junior High and graduated in 1966 from Gainesville High School.
Linda and her husband Bob married the following year and moved to MacDill AFB in Tampa. Bob was then sent to Don Muong AFB in Thailand, then on to Travis AFB in Fairfield CA, where he completed his enlistment in 1970.
They returned to Tampa where Bob received his degree in Special Education from the University of South Florida. In 1974, the Jones’ moved to Gainesville where they raised two sons, Chris & Mike. Linda worked for two engineering firms, CH2M Hill and Jones Edmunds. Bob taught math at GHS for 37 years.
They moved to High Springs in 2007 at which time Linda began attending city commission meetings. She and Bob have worked on the campaigns of four successful commissioners and Linda was on the City Charter review in the spring of 2016, at which time she started considering running for City Commission and was unopposed in the November 2016 and 2019 elections.
Their son, Mike, and his family, Tiffany, Peyton and CJ, moved from High Springs to Aurora, CO, December 2018. Linda also enjoys doing yard work with Bob and watching old movies from the 1940s.
