With the Holiday Season quickly approaching, the High Springs Fire Department will be almost as busy as Santa. Over the next two weeks, our Fire Fighting teams will be attending Facilities Training with the Alachua County Fire Rescue at the Loften Center. We will still maintain our local units at the Fire Department to answer any emergency calls that come in. The Fire Department is also busy preparing for the 2017 – 20th Annual Twilight Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 9th beginning at 6pm. Be sure to join us as we celebrate this season and welcome Santa to High Springs.
At the Planning, Development and Codes Department the last few weeks have been eventful for us, including our first ever symposium covering the 6th Edition Florida Building Code Changes. We would like to thank all who attended and we are currently looking at future dates and times to schedule additional symposiums. We have issued 5 New Single Family Dwellings in the last week alone along side it an additional 20 various permittable projects. We would like to remind you that we are here to help you with all of your Planning, Development and Codes needs.
There will be only one Commission meeting for the month of December and it will be on the 14th. We encourage citizens to attend the meetings to be involve in city government.
The Public Works Department has a very busy week ahead. On Monday the public works employees will be delivering Lead & Copper sampling materials to 50 residents. Lead & Copper Test Results Dec. 2017.These 50 residents are on the approved sampling plan from DEP. Samples will be collected from these residents Tuesday through Thursday, with samples going to the lab Thursday afternoon. We will also be replacing the Fire Hydrant that was hit in a vehicle accident on South Main St. this week. As well as any and all other work orders throughout the week. The Camp Kulaqua Lift Station project is continuing with the contractors throughout this week. In addition, the Public Works will be helping prepare for the Christmas parade with the fire and police department. The Parade will be held on Saturday December 9th at 6pm.
Letters are being hand delivered to residents in a portion of Southside Terrace informing them of the construction of a gravity sewer system in their area in the near future.Letter to Property Owners-Phase A-1 (1)
The Police Department, along with the Fire Department are currently accepting donations of new unwrapped toys, pajamas, and books to be given to children in need in our community this holiday season. Parks & Recreation – Santa Fe Youth Basketball registration is now released. Registration forms are available on the city’s website and have also been sent home from the schools.
