Privacy Policy The City of High Springs recognizes and respects the public’s right to privacy. The City of High Springs has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate its firm commitment to privacy. Information collected and stored automatically If all you do during your visit is browse through the website, read pages, or download information, we will gather and store certain information about your visit automatically. The City of High Springs does not collect information for commercial marketing. Protection of Minors We are especially concerned about protecting children’s privacy. We hope parents are involved in children’s Internet explorations. It is particularly important for parents to guide their children when children are providing personal information online. We specifically ask children to get their parents’ permission before providing any information online – at our site or any other site – and recommend parents always be involved in those decisions. Most importantly, when children do provide information through the City of High Springs website, it is only used to enable us to respond to the writer, and not to create profiles of children. Public Disclosure As a general rule, the City does not disclose any personally identifiable information collected online except where you have given us permission, or where the information is requested to be disclosed and is public information under the State of Florida statutes or other applicable laws. Visitors to the site should be aware that Florida Statute 119 declared that it is the policy of this state that all state, county, and municipal records shall be open for personal inspection by any person, and thus information collected by the City resulting from the use of its websites may be subject to examination and inspection upon request, if such information is a public record and not otherwise protected from disclosure by statute. Site security For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, this government computer system employs commercial software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage. Except for authorized law enforcement investigations, no other attempts are made to identify individual users or their usage habits. Raw data logs are used for no other purposes and are scheduled for regular destruction in accordance with State guidelines for records management and retention. Unauthorized attempts to upload information or change information on this service are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986 and the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act. Event Calendar Policy The City of High Springs provides a listing of events in High Springs as a service to its residents and visitors. This list is not a comprehensive list of all High Springs events. The City may list events that meet one of the following criteria: - Municipal events - Events sponsored by the City - Events open to the general public for which the City approves a special events permit and/or approves the use of public rights-of-way or municipal property Third Party Sites The purpose of the City’s website is to provide information about the City’s government, services and attractions. The site may provide links to websites outside the City’s website that also service this purpose. The City is not responsible for and does not endorse the information on any linked website unless the City’s site states otherwise. References at those websites to any specific commercial product, process, or service by trade name, trademark, or otherwise, does not constitute or imply endorsement or recommendation by the City of High Springs. The following criteria will be used to decide whether to grant requests for City website links. If a particular request does not fit any of the following criteria, the City Commission will decide whether to approve the request. The City Commission will approve the requested website link if it serves the general purpose of the City’s website. External websites may have their own privacy policies, subject to their own guidelines, and should not be viewed as part of or bound by the City’s website privacy policy. Links Policy The City’s website may provide links to websites for: - Governmental and educational institutions - Non-profit organizations with some relationship to the City (including but not limited to: organizations contracting with the City, organizations sponsoring City activities or programs, and organizations participating in City activities or programs) - Generally recognized community organizations - Non-profit organizations providing information about art, cultural, and sporting activities in the City’s area - Non-profit organizations providing information about employment opportunities in the City’s area - Non-profit organizations providing information about tourist attractions in the City’s area The City’s website will not provide links to websites for: - Candidates for local, state or federal offices - Political organizations or other organizations advocating a position on a local, state or federal issue - Corporate or other for-profit organizations unless they fit any of the criteria stated above - Individuals or personal home pages - Websites deemed inappropriate by the City Copyright Policy Unless a copyright is indicated, information on the City of High Springs website is in the public domain and may be reproduced, published or otherwise used with the City of High Springs’ permission.
