Commissioner Jones was born in DeLand, FL and moved to Gainesville in 1959. She went to JJ Finley, Westwood Junior High and graduated in 1966 from Gainesville High School.
Linda and her husband Bob married the following year and moved to MacDill AFB in Tampa. Bob was then sent to Don Muong AFB in Thailand, then they both went to Travis AFB in Fairfield CA, where he completed his enlistment in 1971.
They returned to Tampa where Bob received his degree in Special Education from the University of South Florida, and returned to Gainesville in 1974 where they raised two sons, Chris & Mike. Linda worked for two engineering firms in Gainesville, CH2M Hill and Jones Edmunds. Bob taught math at GHS for 37 years.
They moved to High Springs in 2007 at which time Linda began attending city commission meetings. She and Bob have worked on the campaigns of four successful commissioners and Linda was on the City Charter review in the spring of 2016, at which time she started considering running for City Commission and was unopposed in the November 2016 election.
They enjoy spending time with their son, Mike, and his family, Tiffany, Peyton and CJ, who also live in High Springs. Linda also enjoys yardwork and watching old movies from the 1940s.
