Bio: I was born and raised in High Springs. I am a graduate of A L. Mebane High School. At graduation I received a scholarship to Wilberforce University in Ohio. However, I received my Bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University of New Jersey with a major in Business Education and Management. My years of employment were spent with the federal government. I started employment as a Clerk Typist working at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. I received many outstanding performance awards, promotions, plaques, Letters of Appreciation, and other accolades during my eighteen year tenure there. I then accepted a reassignment to the Naval Air Warfare Center in Trenton, New Jersey, where I continued to be promoted until becoming the supervisor of the Human Resources Department. I continued to work in this capacity until retirement in 1997. After retirement, I did a lot of traveling, going to many difference places (London, Paris, western islands of the Caribbean, Puerto Rico, and many others). I returned to High Springs in July, 2006, and became involved in the community. I was immediately given the position of Assistant Clerk with the Supervisor of Elections upon transferring my voter registration. Other involvements include being a substitute teacher for Alachua County, President of the local AARP chapter #3373, Secretary of the A. L. Mebane Alumni Association, High Springs Senior Citizen Gathering, and the High Springs Chamber, former member of the Planning Board, Vice President of the Missionary Society at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church, member of the CDC (Community Development Corporation), etc. My involvement in different areas is pleasing to me and I give all that I have to what I do.
